Mini Musings

27 Nov

‘Mini Musings’ will be posts about random, usually reading/book related tidbits that come into my very odd brain when they do.

The reason I decided to do this was because the other day I went to Broadway Shopping Centre in Sydney to buy some birthday presents. I wanted to get a friend some books, so after going to a few other shops for other things, I looked at the map directory. To my shock and horror… THERE WERE NO BOOK SHOPS!

Yes, you heard me. In a mall with approx. 100 shops, not ONE place sold books. Devastating. Upon further inspection of the map, I saw that a Dymocks store was opening soon, but I was quite sad that there was nowhere to get a book.

Anyway, that’s this week’s mini musing.

Hi there, I’ve just been led to your blog by a friend of mine and I really enjoyed reading it! I just thought I’d mention that there did use to be an Angus & Robertson in Broadway but it since closed when the chain went under/got bought etc very good news that a Dymocks is opening up there though! It is a tragedy for a shopping centre of that size to not have a book shop!

Thanks Bridget! So glad you’re enjoying it. Ah that makes sense about broadway, such a shame about A&R though.

Argh! I know what you mean about the lack of book stores. I was looking to get my KK a book and there were only two book stores that I could find at the city shopping centre!

That’s so annoying. I now order online mostly, or, thankfully there’s a dymocks across the road from work which i also go to

Hello! I thought I’d leave a comment to say that Dymocks has been at broadway for years! I think they’re moving to a different store space, hence the lack of bookshops at the moment 🙂

Ahh I see. Strange, I’d never seen it before. Whereabouts in broadway did it used to be?

Well, good to know that they haven’t been bookshop-less for too long 🙂

It was on one of the upper levels (possibly the same one as target???). You used to be able to take an escalator straight up into the middle of the store, which I always thought was awesome

I thought that was at chatswood Westfield only? I always loved that.
